Science makes me strong!

Badier Velji - Research and Development Engineer for RF-based electrosurgery; owner, The Lazy Caveman Health and Wellness

Science has taken me farther than I could have imagined. I’ve never been out of work longer than 2 months, even in the height of the economic meltdown. My work helps the world on a global scale, and my small business helps the world on a more local scale.

Intermittent Fasting

Friday will make my 8th week of intermittent fasting.. I’ve heard of it back when I 1st started reading about primal lifestyles and crossfit, but didn’t think it was for me. Until I pretty much had to sit out for 15 weeks for a repaired hernia and broken foot back to back..

One day I decided I need it to try something completely different than what I was doing to get completely different results. I’ve had some wild eat all you can find days, but for the 95% of the time I been able to feed at 12pm- 8pm, 10am-4pm and 8am-2pm.

When I 1st returned to the wods I had to increase my food intake specially on the PM meal if I was going to wod on an empty stomach 8-10 hours before the wod. Once I increased the fat and protein I was able to complete the wods. The endurance is still challenge, but I think is due to the time off rather than the food intake.

I sleep better, I feel better and I think better when I eat like this. I don’t obsessed with food or when my next meal is coming from. I eat before I leave the house and I eat when I return home. I can always eat outside the 8 hour window to keep up with social events and gatherings.

8 weeks later I am returning to my leaner stage, but Im going to increase the lean protein this week, but decrease the overall amount of food. I honestly understand how well the body does with little food and how well it excels with more food.

The way I gather my food really doesn’t expense much energy so I think decreasing it over a week period shouldn’t hamper any progress, but we will see..

I am not a doctor or nutritionist. I didn’t consult either. I simply took a none common sense approach and works for me..

It’s also an important part of an endurance athlete’s training that…
